Moliendo Café continues the musical exchange begun on Tonada, bringing together classical, jazz, and Latin American influences. The title track reimagines the Venezuelan favorite, while Papillon draws on Jerry Goldsmith’s film music and Summerland offers the reflective lyricism of William Grant Still.
Trombonist Domingo Pagliuca joins Morris on Apure en un Viaje, and Venezuelan cuatro player Edward Ramírez is featured on Brujería. With arrangements and production by Justo Morao, the album moves from intimate ballads to rhythmic exchanges, exploring the expressive range of the trumpet.
